The men’s and women’s 2023 Ballon d’Or winners are to be announced today, at a ceremony that will also see a number of other prizes handed out.
Argentina captain Lionel Messi is being heavily tipped to win his eighth men’s Ballon d’Or, while Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí is the frontrunner for the women’s award.
Messi and Bonmatí were both named player of the tournament as their countries triumphed at the 2022 Men’s World Cup and 2023 Women’s World Cup, respectively.

Bonmatí was also the outstanding individual in the 2022/23 Women’s Champions League, as Barcelona secured their second European title.

What time does the 2023 Ballon d’Or gala start?
The 2023 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France, on Monday October 30, 2023.
The red carpet is scheduled to begin at 2pm ET/11am PT, while the ceremony itself is expected to get underway at 3:45pm ET/12:45pm PT.

What awards will be presented at the Ballon d’Or gala?
In addition to the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or, a number of other prizes are to be handed out in the French capital.
They are: the Kopa Trophy, for the best men’s under-21 player; the Yashin Trophy, for the best men’s goalkeeper; the Socrates Award, for humanitarian work by a soccer player; the Gerd Müller men’s striker of the year award; and Club of the Year.
