2023 Clausura run-in for Chivas and América
Just three games remain in the regular season of the 2023 Liga MX Clausura with a handful of teams in contention for a coveted top four finish.


Both Chivas Guadalajara and Club America recorded wins in matchday 14 of the 2023 Liga MX Clausura with the ‘Sacred Flock’ narrowly beating Necaxa 1-0 whilst ‘Las Aguilas’ had to come from behind to beat Rayados at a packed Azteca in a thrilling contest on Saturday night.

The win over Monterrey pushed Fernando Ortiz’s men into third place with the solo Pavel Perez goal seeing Chivas secure a fifth place in the table with just three games of the regular season to go and a series of sides in contention for a coveted top four finish and avoid the potential ‘banana skin’ that is the repechaje.

The regular season of the 2023 Clausura season winds up over the final weekend of April and this is the fixture list for both Chivas and America as they look to secure a top four finish. Cruz Azul are the only team that both ‘Ame’ and Chivas with the ‘Cementeros’ set to have a major say in how the regular season ends for the giants of Mexican football.
The top four advance to the play-off/liguilla stage with teams finishing in fifth-twelfth forced to play a round-robin game before advancing to the play-off stage.
