2023 international soccer fixtures: USMNT, Mexico, England, Spain…

The first international break of 2023 is scheduled for the last week in March but the United States will be in action before then.

While the focus is firmly on the World Cup which gets underway in just over a fortnight’s time, in the back offices of football associations, federations and confederations all over the world, plans are being drawn up for next year’s international fixtures calendar.

Aside from next year’s major tournaments (CAF Africa Cup of Nations, AFC Asian Cup and CONCACAF Gold Cup), FIFA have confirmed five international windows for 2023, with a maximum of two games to be played in each:

  • 20-28 March
  • 12-20 June
  • 4-12 September
  • 9-17 October
  • 13-21 November

However, there will be exceptions - yesterday, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) announced that their national team have lined up a friendly against the United States before the first international window - that game will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on Saturday 28 January. Gregg Berhalter’s team are also due to meet Serbia in a friendly at Banc of California stadium in January.

Thursday 23 March: Grenada vs USMNT (CONCACAF Nations League)

England

Friday 16 June: Malta vs England (EURO 2024 qualifiers)

Monday 19 June: England vs North Macedonia (EURO 2024 qualifiers)

Saturday 9 September: Ukraine vs England (EURO 2024 qualifiers)

Tuesday 17 October: England vs Italy (EURO 2024 qualifiers)

Friday 17 November: England vs Malta (EURO 2024 qualifiers)

Monday 20 November. North Macedonia vs England (EURO 2024 qualifiers)
