AC Milan place offer for Marcelo

Diario AS understands that AC Milan have presented the Brazilian with an offer. He is a free agent after leaving Real Madrid.

Roberto Carlos stated last week that Marcelo still has “another four or five years left in the game” and a number of clubs in Europe and beyond have express an interest in the left-back who is now free to elect the club of his choice. Marcelo brings 16 years of service for Real Madrid to a close this month, as he enters the final days of his contract. As things stand, the most firm offer he has received is from AC Milan.

The Serie A champions have presented Marcelo with an offer which will guarantee him 3 million euros after tax per year. However, it seems that the Brazilian isn’t convinced by the idea - it’s precisely half the figure he was taking home at Real Madrid - six million euros.

Offer from Ligue 1

Despite turning Milan’s first proposal down, AS understands that Milan plan to present Marcelo with an improved offer. But they are now under pressure to speed up the operation as other clubs have since entered the fray, including Olympique Marseille who are very interested in signing the defender.
