AC Milan set for talks to sign USMNT forward Folarin Balogun
Balogun recently declared for the USMNT.
AC Milan are interested in signing Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun, who is currently on loan at French side Stade Reims, according to journalist Daniele Longo in Italy.
The player’s representatives are expected to have contact from the Italian club regarding a possible move for Balogun this summer.
Milan are set to be given a €50m budget for transfers as they look to strengthen their squad over the coming months, with their attack being a priority.
Balogun’s current deal with Arsenal runs until 30 June 2025 and his loan move at Will Still’s Reims expires next month.
Balogun chooses USMNT
Balogun, 21, recently decided to represent the USA going forward. He played for England at U17 level but later represented the USA U18 side four times in 2018 before switching back to England’s underage setup.
With no competitive senior appearances for England, due to FIFA’s rules, Balogun remained eligible to switch his allegiance to the US. The Brooklyn-born star moved to the UK at the age of two but is now set to feature for the USMNT once again.
German club RB Leipzig are also believed to be interested in signing the player, who has found the back of the net times 20 times in 35 Ligue 1 appearances this season. His current market valuation on Transfermarkt is €25m.
