BALLON D'OR
Adidas launch special edition Leo Messi “El Ocho” Ballon d’Or Crazyfast boots
The Argentine picked up a record eighth Ballon d’Or award on Monday night at the gala event in Paris with Adidas marking the achievement.
Following Lionel Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or win in Paris on Monday night, the Argentine’s long time apparel brand partner Adidas has commissioned eight 14-carat gold rings, each paying tribute to Messi’s achievements from each Ballon d’Or win.
Later this year, each ring will be available for auction, with all proceeds going to charities to be selected by Messi and Adidas.
Crazyfast boot drop
Adidas have also released a limited edition X Crazyfast.1 Messi “El Ocho” football boot featuring a special design of the striker’s signature X Crazyfast boot with a new colour scheme inspired by the golden tones that can be seen on a Ballon d’Or award.
The 8 balls on the side of the boot represent each year that Messi was voted the best player in the world. A golden goat’s head sits just below the laces of each boot, while the words ‘El Mejor Del Mundo’ (The Best in the World) adorn the outside of the boot with a decorative embossed print.
Given the doubt surrounding Inter Miami’s Chinese tour at present, it’s thought that Messi will debut the Ballon d’Or inspired boots with the Argentine national side as they face Uruguay and Brazil next month as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The X Crazyfast.1 Messi “El Ocho” X Pack is now available from adidas.com with details of the ring auction set to be announced at a future date.
