After missing out on the Liga MX title, Tigres are targeting this Argentine star
Ahead of the Clausura 2026 tournament, Tigres are believed to be strongly interested in signing an Independiente standout.
Tigres remain active in their search for reinforcements ahead of the upcoming Liga MX tournament, and their attention has turned to South America - specifically Argentina - where it appears they may have found their next signing. All signs point to Kevin Lomónaco making his way to Monterrey.
A source close to the Tigres camp told AS México that there is indeed strong interest in the Independiente de Avellaneda player, who is currently the team’s standout performer. The front office is working hard to secure his arrival ahead of the Clausura 2026.
Who is Kevin Lomónaco?
Now 23, Lomónaco made his professional debut with Lanús. He later played for Platense, moved to Brazil to join Red Bull Bragantino, returned to Argentina with Tigre, and has since become a true standout at Independiente. He has already logged 109 matches, scored three goals, and added two assists.
Although yet to make his senior Argentina debut, Lomónaco has been a part of Lionel Scaloni’s national-team squad, having earned his first call-up earlier this year.
He plays as a defender - the same role Javier Aquino had been occupying for Tigres, though Aquino was also capable of sliding into midfield. That makes Lomónaco a potential replacement for the Mexican veteran next tournament, provided negotiations progress and both clubs strike a deal. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value stands at €10 million ($11.7 million).
