Alan Velasco beats Benjamin Cremaschi and Aidan Morris to become best young player in MLS
Alan Velasco has won the best young player in MLS award for his performances with FC Dallas.
On Thursday, MLS announced the 22 best players under the age of 22 this season, with FC Dallas player Alan Velasco winning the award.
For the third consecutive year, an FC Dallas player has picked up the award, with Velasco, 21, a driving force for the club since he arrived in 2022 from Argentine club Independiente.
Ricardo Pepi won the award in 2021 before leaving for German side Augsburg and Jesus Ferreira was the winner in 2022.
Since making the move to the MLS outfit, Velasco has shown why the Texan club paid $7 million for his services. This season the exciting winger has played 26 games, scoring three goals and registering two assists.
These numbers were enough for MLS to choose Velasco as the best young player in the league, beating Benjamin Cremaschi of Inter Miami and Aidan Morris of Columbus Crew.
