Alexis Vega was far from a success in his time with Chivas. His irregularity on the field and indiscipline off the pitch marked his time with the ‘Sacred Flock’ in a spell that lasted five years. After the situation became untenable with the Estadio Akron side, the striker made a recent move back to former club Toluca.

Vega took to the air speaking on the podcast coordinated by teammate Jesús ‘Canelo’ Angulo with Vega anxious to clear the air. In the first instance, Alexis pointed out that everything that was mentioned about him was false. “People believe everything they see on social networks. Only I and those who separated from the team know what happened. Everything that they said what happened at Chivas was a lie. I talked about it with my family to let them know that none of that was true. It was something much low-key than what was reported” he assured.

Far from being left with remorse towards Chivas or the board, Vega said he felt grateful for everything he experienced in Guadalajara: “With my teammates and the board, I was happy until the last day I was there. For five years they fed me and my family, they made me very happy and I wouldn’t have the courage to speak badly about them, they always behaved well with me, they made it easy for me leave too,” he said.

However, he did admit to have not ended well with Chivas fans, who after the Toluca scandal began to boo him. “The issue with the fans was more complicated. Since what happened with the alleged indiscipline in Toluca, obviously the fans began to get upset, I entered the field and they booed me. For me it was difficult because I had never experienced that. It hit me a lot because there was a moment when they started to mess with my family, from then on I counted the days until I left Chivas,” he said.

Finally, without giving names, Vega acknowledged that he was wanted by a Liga MX and MLS team: “Another offer came out from a club in Mexico; even one from the MLS, but I never thought about leaving Mexico. The Toluca fans supported me from the first day.”
