Alexis Vega not ready for Chelsea according to former Mexican international
Former Mexican international Luis García believes that 25-year-old winger and Guadalajara player Alexis Vega is not ready to join the Premier League.
Alexis Vega had a breakout tournament with the Mexico national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and led the attack alongside Hirving Lozano during the group stage. Unfortunately, El Tri didn’t qualify to the end and Vega took some time off before returning to preseason with Chivas ahead of the start of the Mexican tournament.
Vega wants to exit Chivas
The 25-year-old is under contract with the Guadalajara-based team until June 2024, but he is looking for an exit in the upcoming transfer window. Vega wants to make the switch to Europe in January and it has been reported that Chelsea is interested in signing the Mexican international next month.
This will be a bad move for the Chivas ace according to former Mexican international Luis García, who played at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, because he thinks Vega is not ready to play in the Premier League at the highest level.
“Alexis Vega doesn’t have the skill set yet to play at Chelsea in the Premier League,” said García.

Garcia: Vega needs to learn from mistakes
“We saw what happened against Argentina at the World Cup, he missed a clear opportunity to score. You see many players miss opportunities like that and like Luis Enrique said, this is a sport about making mistakes, but you need to learn from them. Vega missed a clear opportunity to score in the first half and then he disappeared from the game.
“So to play at Chelsea, you need another type of skill set,” concluded García. It has been rumored that the Stamford Bridge side is looking for a possible replacement for Christian Pulisic if the American decides to leave during the winter transfer window. Vega is being linked with a move to Chelsea, but they will have to reach a deal with Chivas to sign him.
