Alexis Vega suspension: How many games will he miss?
The player was sent off after being shown a second yellow card in the 2-1 defeat to Santos Laguna.
Chivas suffered a double blow in Sunday’s match against Santos. In addition to losing their unbeaten record in the tournament, they lost one of their best players, Alexis Vega. The No.10 was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in stoppage-time during the team’s visit to Torreón. Vega was booked on 86 minutes for a challenge on Alan Cervantes, and referee Óscar Mejía sent him off with just moments of the game remaining for complaining about a foul.
It means that the forward will not be available for Chivas’ next match, against Rayados at Akron stadium on Sunday. He should be available however, for the Clásico National on Saturday 16 September.
Sixth expulsion of his career
This is the sixth time that Alexis Vega has seen a red card. He had already been sent off during his youth stage in the Under-20 MX league and he was also sent off in the Copa Libertadores match against São Paulo in April 2016. The other four have been in the Apertura and Clausura tournaments.
