Alfonso González hits 28 goals and celebrates 200th game with Rayados
With a double against Toluca, making it three in Clausura 2023, the Mexican midfielder shone as he completed another milestone in the game.
Alfonso ‘Poncho’ González did not miss the two opportunities that fell to him in front of the Toluca goal, and dispatched both to give Rayados de Monterrey victory at the Gigante de Acero. The attacking midfielder, who received recognition for completing his 200th match in the previous matchday, now has 28 official goals for his team.

The Mexican midfielder, who has started all four games for Víctor Manuel Vucetich’s team, has been decisive in the Clausura 2023, scoring three of the eight goals recorded thus far by Monterrey in the competition.
The 28-year-old former Atlas man scored a great goal to level things up ahead of victory against Puebla, and then added the brace against Toluca, the first coming in minute 17, after latching onto a pass from Germán Berterame, and on the half hour mark finishing off a Jesús Gallardo assist to make it 2-0.
In almost every match in which he scored Monterrey has been victorious, with 20 wins, four draws and only one loss. His overall record with the Rayados has seen him compete in 201 games, starting 127 of them, and he has provided 22 assists.
Meanwhile, with the victory against Toluca, La Pandilla is now in second place in the competition with 12 points, alongside Pachuca.
