Alphonso Davies suffers possible concussion in ‘Der Klassiker’
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies sustained a kick to the head and had to be replaced in the 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund.
FC Bayern Munich left Signal Iduna Park with a bitter taste in the mouth after dominating the majority of the game and squandering a 2-0 lead in stoppage time. Also, their left-back star Alphonso Davies suffered a kick to the head and had to be replaced in the 46th minute by Josip Stanisic.
Injury report
The Canada men’s national soccer team ace took a boot to the face from Jude Bellingham while fighting for the ball, and several reports indicate that he was immediately taken to the hospital because he apparently suffered a concussion. Davies will most likely be out for the UEFA Champions League clash against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich had a comfortable 2-0 lead when Davies was on the pitch but Borussia Dortmund came back from behind to salvage a point. Youssoufa Moukoko scored the first goal for the home side in the 74th minute and Anthony Modeste found the back of the net in stoppage time to equalize the match.
Davies has become a key player for Bayern Munich since arriving in 2019 and has been a constant starter regardless of who the manager is. So far in this campaign the 21-year-old has made 12 appearances across all competitions and last week he became the Canadian player with the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League with 24.
