América have not lost at the Alfonso Lastras for over 15 years
San Luis will face the Águilas at home, in a match corresponding to Week 7 of the Clausura 2023.
On Tuesday, Atlético San Luis will be seeking to break the hegemony that América has imposed in recent years in its visits to the Alfonso Lastras stadium, in the capital of San Luis. The match, which will be broadcast live by Star+, corresponds to Week 7 of the Clausura 2023.
Atlético San Luis and América background
André Jardine’s San Luis side go into the match against the Águilas with just two wins from the first six games and in seventh place in table. In their six previous encounters América at the Alfonso Lastras stadium, they have been denied victory with an overall balance of two draws and four defeats. Atlético San Luis hope they can finally break the curse and beat América at home and in front of its people - the last time they managed it was in January 2019 when goals from Carlos Vargas and Diego Pineda handed the hosts a 2-0 win.
But that victory however, was in the Copa MX - the last victory against the Águilas in San Luis Potosí in the Liga MX was over 15 years ago, on 22 September 2007, when they prevailed 2-1.
América striker Henry Martin goes into this game as the team’s top scorer with 7 goals - the Águilas have the best attacking figures in the tournament so far with 14 goals, level with Pachuca.
San Luis have played just two games at home this season and remain unbeaten at their stadium. They beat Puebla 2-0 in Matchday 5, and drew 0-0 with Chivas in Matchday 2. Defeats came against Necaxa, Monterrey and Club Tijuana.
