América have rejected an offer for Álex Zendejas from Orlando City SC, sources close to GIVEMESPORT report. Negotiations for the 26-year-old winger have not advanced, as the Liga MX side have been focused on resolving André Jardine’s situation. Brazilian club Botafogo made an attempt to hire coach but in recent hours it has emerged that he will be staying on.

Zendejas has been a key part of América’s recent successes, winning three consecutive Liga MX titles. During the recent Apertura campaign, the winger racked up four goals and five assists in 19 games, while in 2023 he posted an impressive 14 goals and nine assists in 52 games.

Zendejas and the USMNT

At international level, Zendejas has made 11 appearances for the United States men’s team since making his debut in January 2023. New USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino called him up for the recent friendlies against Panama and Mexico along with CONCACAF Nations League qualifiers against Jamaica in November.

Zendejas' consistency and projection make him an attractive target for clubs in MLS and other international leagues.

América are up against the clock to complete their roster before the new season gets underway next week. The team’s first its first official match of the Clausura 2025 is against Querétaro on 10 January.

Orlando are looking to strengthen its attack following the departure of Uruguayan winger Facundo Torres, who was transferred to Palmeiras.

Óscar Pareja‘s team reached the Eastern Conference final in November only to be beaten 0-1 by the New York Red Bulls. Orlando City were pipped to the Supporters’ Shield in 2023 and the team’s most recent major success was winning the US Open Cup in 2022.
