América, stuck and stagnated in the Liga MX transfer market
Emiliano Gómez and Agustín Palavecino are admired in Coapa, but the club has a big dilemma with the NFM positions.

Club América has been unusually quiet in the Liga MX transfer market. The Águilas have no room to sign another foreign player—every Non‑Mexican‑Trained slot on the roster is already taken. And with no outgoing transfers, selling has become a real problem for the club, making it unlikely they’ll see much movement ahead of the Clausura 2026.
So far, América hasn’t announced a single signing or departure, and the rumor mill is barely turning. Igor Lichnovsky and Víctor Dávila are the names most often mentioned as potential exits, but nothing concrete has materialized. Without selling players currently on the roster, América simply cannot make a move.

According to reporter César Merlo, América is interested in Puebla’s Emiliano Gómez and Necaxa’s Agustín Palavecino. Both players fit what the club is looking for, but everything hinges on outgoing transfers. With all foreign‑player slots filled, América can’t bring in anyone from abroad until someone leaves.
América’s foreign players
- Sebastián Cáceres | Uruguay
- Igor Lichnovsky | Chile
- Cristian Borja | Colombia
- Allan Saint-Maximin | France
- Álvaro Fidalgo | Spain
- Victor Davila | Chile
- Rodrigo Aguirre | Uruguay
- Raúl Zúñiga | Colombia
- Brian Rodríguez | Uruguay
- Javairo Dilrosun | Netherlands*
*Dilrosun was not registered for the last tournament, but América is eager to sell him to avoid paying his salary. The Dutchman’s contract expires in December 2026.

Another challenge for the front office: every foreign player on the roster still has an active contract. That means América must sell or loan someone out to open a spot. Lichnovsky and Dávila have been floated as possible departures, but so far there’s been zero interest.
Meanwhile, Álvaro Fidalgo’s potential exit remains a possibility, though negotiations are moving slowly. For now, América continues its preseason preparations ahead of its Clausura 2026 debut, scheduled for Friday, January 9, against Tijuana.
