América transfer update: Will Palmeiras star join Liga MX giants?

Club América is off to a disastrous start to the Clausura 2026 tournament, having picked up just two points through three matches and standing as the only team yet to score a single goal. Faced with this situation, the club’s front office is already active in the market looking for reinforcements, with Brazilian midfielder Raphael Veiga emerging as a prime target.
The Palmeiras playmaker has been specifically requested by head coach André Jardine, who believes Veiga’s arrival would significantly strengthen the midfield. However, América’s top brass have made little progress on the signing, as they have yet to open up a foreign-player spot on their roster.
Who could make way for Veiga?
The leading candidate to leave is Víctor Dávila, who has an offer from Chilean side Colo-Colo. The former Necaxa standout views a return to his home country as a realistic option, but negotiations have stalled. Colo-Colo has pressed pause due to the player’s salary, which sits at around $1.5 million per year.
The Chilean club’s intention is to bring in Dávila only if América agree to cover 50% of his wages. Despite the complication, Los Azulcremas appear willing to absorb the cost in order to complete the move for Veiga.
When does the transfer window shut?
It’s worth noting that América’s front office is working against the clock, as the Liga MX registration window closes on February 9. With the deadline quickly approaching, club executives will need to finalize the Brazilian’s transfer as soon as possible.
