Ancelotti hints Mbappé to Real Madrid is a done deal
The Real Madrid manager was asked about the PSG striker after Madrid beat Espanyol and replied: “I think the future of this club is written”
Carlo Ancelotti gave Real Madrid fans something else to cheer on Saturday after his side wrapped up the Liga title with a 4-0 win against Espanyol, the Italian hinting that Kylian Mbappé will be lining up for the champions next season.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Ancelotti was asked for his opinion on the potential arrival of the France international: “Is signing Mbappé a priority for you?” the Real Madrid boss was asked by BeIN Sports France.
Ancelotti coy on Mbappé
“I think the future of this club is written,” Ancelotti replied. “With this president [Florentino Pérez], the future is already written.”
The reporter then pressed Ancelotti on the issue, asking: “Is that to say that he is coming?” Ancelotti answered: “I didn’t say that,” with a smile.
Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for the PSG forward and the wheels of a potential deal appear to have been in motion for some time. Mbappé is out of contract at the Parc des Princes this summer and has been free to negotiate with clubs outside of Ligue 1 since January, with Madrid believed to the player’s preferred option is he decides to leave the Parc des Princes.
However, PSG remain confident of persuading Mbappé to stay, tabling an astronomical offer to try and retain the services of a player who has scored 167 goals in 214 games for the club.
