André-Pierre Gignac surpasses ‘Bahia’ as the top scorer in the Clásico Regio
The Frenchman continues to prove key to Tigres’ attack in Liga MX.
André-Pierre Gignac scored his 12th goal in the Clásico Regio, after netting against Monterrey in their 3-0 win this weekend, surpassing Mario de Souza Mota “Bahía” as the top scorer in the fixture. The French forward has been among the goals for Tigres ever since he joined the club eight years ago.
Below the two are Walter Gaytán (8 goals), Claudio Núñez with the same number of goals, and the late Tomás Boy with 6. Gignac did not miss the opportunity to go clear as the top scorer in the matches between the great rivals and scored a couple in the victory over Monterrey.
Gignac versus Rayados
The Frenchman joined the Mexican club for the 2015 Apertura and scored his first goal in the Clásico on the ninth matchday of that season.
In two games against Rayados, he scored braces in the first leg and second leg of the quarter-finals of the 2017 Clausura.
Gignac’s most recent goal against Monterrey came in the 2022 Clausura, helping his team to a 2-0 win.
