Andrés Guardado has found his place at Real Betis. The Mexican midfielder has grown as a player and as a person at the club and has become an idol in Sevilla.

In an interview with Betis’ official media channels, Guardado recalls how well he has been treated since his arrival at the Andalusian club: “It’s nice to see you make history with a team. I’m very happy because I’ve spent practically my whole career in the Spanish league. Even though I spent three and a half years abroad, between Holland and Germany, I feel like another Spaniard, although I’m a fully-fledged Mexican,” he said.

Guardado at Betis

Guardado will soon play his 151st game for Betis, making him the third non-Spanish player with the most appearances for the La Liga club. Aissa Mandi made 152 appearances and Denilson played 165 games.

“When you reach a certain age, you tell yourself your reality and what you have to live with and today I am still confident. Off the pitch they make me feel important and valued, that’s why I’m celebrating my sixth season here, because the coaching staff, the club and the fans still have confidence in me. I’m looking forward to continuing to enjoy myself. I’m still getting minutes,” he concluded.

It is worth remembering that the former Atlas de Guadalajara player has a contract until June this year and is open to negotiating to stay longer at Betis. If he doesn’t extend his stay in the south of Spain, MLS and Liga MX clubs could come knocking on his door.
