Andrés Iniesta could join Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets at Inter Miami
Messi’s former team-mate Iniesta could make the move after his spell with Vissel Kobe in Japan came to an end.
According to the Catalan outlet RAC1, Spanish World Cup winner Andrés Iniesta has an offer on the table from MLS side Inter Miami, who want to reunite Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Iniesta himself at the club.
After five seasons with Vissel Kobe in Japan, the former Barcelona man would reportedly like the possibility of moving to the United States as he looks to continue playing at the age of 39.
Sergio Ramos
Sergio Ramos left Paris Saint-Germain last month and Inter Miami have also reportedly made an approach for the veteran defender. At 37, Ramos still has plenty to offer after a good season at the heart of the PSG defence.
Jordi Alba
Jordi Alba also waved goodbye to his club, leaving Barcelona after eleven seasons. Alba is now looking for a new club and has also been linked with former team-mates Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
Messi announcement
With his PSG contract officially up since 1 July, World Cup winner Lionel Messi is now set to begin his stint in America with Inter Miami.
Messi will earn between $50m and $60m with the MLS club. The former Barcelona forward will have a share of shirt sales from Adidas, as well as some of the broadcasting rights income and a stake in the club itself when he hangs his boots up. Having Messi in Tata Martino’s squad could impact Iniesta’s decision on his next move.
When will Messi officially join Inter Miami?
Messi is expected to officially join Inter Miami soon, and there are plans for an introduction event on 16 July, according to the Associated Press.
