Arda Güler undergoes surgery: when will he return to Real Madrid action?
The Turkish talent underwent surgery on Monday and is now preparing to recover for his Real Madrid debut.
Arda Güler has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and he is expected to remain on the sidelines for another six weeks. Real Madrid don’t intend to rush Güler back to action after the minor surgery on Monday morning and will slowly integrate him back into the squad.
Güler’s injury became known on 29 July during Real Madrid’s tour of the United States. He had to return to the Spanish capital before the rest of the squad to begin his recovery. At that time, Real Madrid’s medical report did not give details about the injury and the club refused to give a date for his return.
Los Blancos are now more optimistic, as Carlo Ancelotti himself said when asked in Bilbao about the Turkish player’s recovery time. “Güler’s recovery time is quite short. I think he can recover very soon,” said the Italian coach.
Madrid derby
There is no return date yet, although the calendar suggests a possible comeback for the Madrid derby, which takes place at Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano stadium in Madrid on 24 September.
Güler, 18, is the first of Real Madrid’s injured players to undergo surgery. The dates of the operations of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are still unknown.
