Fenerbahçe’s young wonderkid Arda Güler has received several offers from clubs in Spain and the Premier League, but he could be set to join Real Madrid. Güler, 18, has a $19 million buy-out clause and is one of the most promising players in world football. He has received offers from Barcelona, Sevilla, Milan and Arsenal, but he has been convinced by Real Madrid’s offer and he could even sign for the club in the next few days.

Barcelona’s interest

Barça thought they had a deal in place after their new sporting director, Deco, travelled to Istanbul. But Madrid moved swiftly and made their offer, which Güler valued more highly than the others because of his obvious desire to wear the famous white shirt. Güler, as was also the case with Bellingham, has had no doubts: his choice is Real Madrid.

Madrid did not originally intend to sign the player this summer. The club had been tracking the left-footed talent from Turkey for months, and the number of offers the player has received has accelerated events. Real Madrid did not rule out even leaving the player on loan for another year at his current club, Fenerbahçe, but he is so keen to play for Madrid that the club is ready to sign him this summer.

Fine season at Fenerbahçe

Madrid’s interest in Güler, as reported by this newspaper on 22 June, came to fruition after Fenerbahçe’s Europa League tie against Sevilla, who also fell in love with the attacking midfielder. In 2022-23 he made 35 appearances, scoring six goals and registering seven assists for Fenerbahçe. One of his most recent and best performances came in the Turkish Cup final (2-0) against Basaksehir, in which he was decisive with an assist and he picked up the Man of the Match award. He is now on the verge of getting a dream move to Real Madrid.
