Marco Asensio running out of patience at Real Madrid
The Mallorcan’s anger was obvious after he was left on the bench during Real Madrid’s win over Mallorca.
Marco Asensio is starting to lose patience at Real Madrid he is not hiding it. The Spanish forward and Mariano were left to warm up as Carlo Ancelotti was forced to make an unexpected change due to Lucas Vázquez’s injury in the win over Mallorca on Sunday. Dani Carvajal replaced the Galician player. At that moment, Ancelotti’s son Davide turned to Asensio and Mariano and told them to stop warming up. Asensio didn’t take long to show his frustration. First, he took off his bib, threw it down hard, sat down next to his team-mates and took another swipe at the bench. After the match, Ancelotti was asked about it and said: “I agree with him. I’m taking note.”
Asensio surplus to requirements
Asensio has had very little involvement in the seven games that have been played so far this season. Over the summer, it looked like everything was on track for him to leave Madrid, even more after he changed agent. He is now being managed by Jorge Mendes, however, who knows whether it was due to a lack of offers or Asensio’s own decision, he has ended up staying with Los Blancos.
Asensio ends his contract with Real Madrid in 2023 and will be free to leave in the next summer transfer window if he does not reach an agreement with the club to renew his contract, something that does not appear to be in the plans of either the player or Madrid. With the window still open at the time, Asensio only played seven minutes on the second matchday of the season. He then played another 10 minutes in the Champions League. As of today, he has Eden Hazard and Rodrygo ahead of him in the pecking order.
