Atlético register two B team players in Champions League squad

Atlético begin the 2022/23 Champions League with 22 first team players and two from the B team: centre-back Fran González and forward Diego Bri

Update:
DIEGO BRI ATLETICO B

Atlético Madrid begin their preparation for the start of this season’s Champions League on Monday with the official squad list for the tournament already known. The list includes 22 players from the first team squad, plus two footballers from the B team: Fran González and Diego Bri. González is a 24-year-old central defender who was called up for first team duty several times by Simeone last season. Bri meanwhile, is a 19-year-old striker who joined the team this season from Elche. He made his debut with Elche’s first team when he was still only 17. Both players are part of the A list.

Porto at home

Atleti’s campaign gets underway on Wednesday against Porto. Simeone’s team go into the game with a number of players suffering physical problems. Reguilón, Savic, Cunha and Lemar were unable to travel to San Sebastián for this weekend’s game against Real Sociedad. Reguilón and Savic are definitely ruled out for the Porto game, the latter two are still doubtful and medical staff are keeping an eye on Jan Oblak, who was substituted at Reale Arena after taking a nasty blow to his thigh. Elsewhere, Felipe must serve the remainder of his suspension after being sent off in last season’s quarter final tie against Manchester City. Simeone will probably complete the list with another youth team player - Fran González, Marco Moreno and Sergio Díez from the B list have options to be registered with UEFA.
