Atlético will make Memphis move official tomorrow: he will arrive for €2.5 million
The Dutch player will reinforce the team’s attack and Simeone will get the player he wants.
Atlético will announce the signing of Memphis Depay tomorrow. Memphis is travelling to the Spanish capital to immediately put himself under Simeone’s orders. Atlético and Barcelona have agreed on the negotiations for the player and the Madrid club will pay over €2 million for the Barcelona forward, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season. Memphis will sign for two seasons with Atlético.
Atlético took their time in noegotating the arrival of the player with Barcelona, who was a priority for Cholo. Los Rojiblancos did not intend to pay the €7 million that Barça initially asked for and the negotiations went from there. Simeone gave the go-ahead regarding the winger’s arrival from the beginning and the idea is that he will be available to play the next league match against Valladolid.
The Atlético squad is as it will stay for the remainder of the season, pending the possible departure of Felipe, in which case, Leicester’s Soyüncü would be his replacement. Cholo will fight for success during the second half of the season with Correa, Griezmann, Morata and Memphis as attacking players.
