Aymeric Laporte’s future is up in the air and he could be set to leave Manchester City, the club he joined in the winter of 2018.

The Spain international is going through one of the toughest spells in his career and is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans, meaning that he could look for a new club this summer.

The former Athletic Club defender is not likely to face any obstacles from his current club. According to the Daily Mail, City will not stop him from leaving. Aware of the player’s situation, Guardiola is reluctant to keep unhappy players in his squad, and will work with him if he wishes to leave Manchester.

Laporte has lost this season’s battle with fellow centre-back Manuel Akanji and has made just 17 appearances so far in 2022-23. He played 44 times last season.

Laporte on Barcelona’s radar

Laporte has been on Barcelona’s radar for some time now. In the past, the Blaugrana tried to sign him, but with no luck. Now the situation has changed, and at the age of 28, he could be ready to find a new club.
