Bale recommends “genius” ex boss for Manchester United next manager

Manchester United have undergone a massive turnaround under Michael Carrick, but there is no guarantee that he will be a long term manager at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have undergone a massive turnaround under Michael Carrick, but there is no guarantee that he will be a long term manager at Old Trafford.

The most important question surrounding Manchester United right now is where will they finish at the end of Premier League season? A return to the Champions League is a necessity, but the long term question is who will be in the dugout for the Red Devils last year? Premier League legend Gareth Bale knows the perfect man for the job.

“Carlo gets everyone on board,” Bale

If Manchester United do manage to qualify for Europe’s top competition than it will be in large part, if not solely on the shoulders of interim manager Michael Carrick. Carrick has come back to Old Trafford and rocketed his squad up the standings to where they used to be on a year to year basis back in his playing days.

That begs the question, if Carrick delivers Champions football next season, is that enough for him to be the man for the job in the long term? He was named the interim manager following the firing of Ruben Amorim, but no one has named permanent manager of the club. If the board does decided to look elsewhere for a manager who they believe will have the staying power United haven’t seen since Fergie, former Tottenham and Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale knows just the man for the job.

“I think he would do great [at Manchester United]. He’s not just the manager, he is a coach as well. He can do the tactical stuff [too],” Bale told Sky Bet of his former boss Carlo Ancelotti. “Wherever Carlo goes, I think he would do an amazing job, just because he gets everyone on board.

Newcastle hands Carrick first loss

Bale and the Italian manager both arrived in Madrid in the summer of 2013. They won La Decima the year after, and Bale says what makes the five time Champions League winning manager is his presence in the dressing room. “He’ll get the best out of players and will just simplify things, which you see now with Michael Carrick. He’s simplifying a lot of things that the previous manager was doing, and you’re getting results. So that’s Carlo’s genius, getting the best out of the players and just making it simple,” asserted Bale.

Ancelloti left Real Madrid at the end of last season to become Brazil´s national team manager, but who knows how long the Italian’s plans after the World Cup this summer. Regardless of how Brazil do, clubs will be knocking down the former Everton manager’s door to sign him for next season.

A little stumble in St. James´s Park on Wednesday night is the only blemish on an otherwise sensational star to his interim role on the touchline for United. Before the 2-1 loss to Newcastle United, Carrick was undefeated with six wins and one draw in seven matches. The fantastic spell of matches propelled the Red Devils into the top three, and the hope is Carrick will keep them there until the end of the season. What happens after that is anybodies guess, but Bale knows who he would sign as the next Manchester United boss.
