Barça admit return date to Spotify Camp Nou is ‘unknown’
If the club cannot go back to their old home in March, it’s understood that the return will have to wait until next season.
Last week, FC Barcelona detailed how the club plans a staggered return to the Spotify Camp Nou. However, the overview on the return failed to include a clear time-frame and as things stand this is the key area that is causing most concern among the Barça faithful.
Today, the Catalan club admitted that they don’t know when they can return to the spiritual home with March being cited as a possible return albeit with only a small percentage of the ground open to fans. The club also claim that if March fails to materialise, then they may opt to play at the Lluís Companys Stadium in Montjuic until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Work continues at Camp Nou
The work on the Spotify Camp Nou is progressing at a steady pace and developments are clearly visible, but according to the club, a series of incidents have occurred which have caused significant delays with respect to what was planned.
At present both the club and construction company Limak hold meetings on a weekly basis to asses the latest developments.
March is a key date because it is when the Champions League Round of 16 will be played. If Barcelona qualify directly, they should play them between March 4 and 12, 2025 and would like to do so at the Spotify Camp Nou.
But optimism levels within the board are low in terms of a March return and should they remain at the Lluís Companys, they will have to negotiate with Barcelona City Council an extension of the Montjuïc lease.
