Barcelona will be without head coach Hansi Flick for the start of next season’s Champions League campaign after UEFA hit the German manager with a one-match suspension for “unsportsmanlike conduct” during the second-leg clash against Inter Milan at the San Siro.

The ruling came from UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) following its July 31, 2025, meeting, which handed out multiple sanctions to Barça stemming from that heated encounter in Milan.

Flick was punished for “violating the general principles of conduct” and “breaching the basic rules of decent conduct,” earning him the ban plus a €20,000 (about $21,800) fine. His assistant coach, Marcus Sorg, received the exact same penalty.

Lewandowski and Yamal hit with fines

Star striker Robert Lewandowski and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal were also disciplined — not with suspensions, but with financial penalties.

Both players were fined €5,000 (roughly $5,450) each for “failing to follow the instructions of the Doping Control Officer” and for “not reporting immediately to the Doping Control Station” after the match, as required under UEFA’s anti-doping regulations.

Barcelona as a club was also fined for fan behavior in the away section. UEFA hit the Catalan side with a €5,250 ($5,720) penalty for objects thrown from the stands and another €2,500 ($2,725) for the lighting of fireworks.
