Jules Koundé has announced that he has no intention of leaving FC Barcelona.

The French defender took to Twitter to clear any doubts over his future. “To be clear: at no time did I ask to leave. I’m not going anywhere,” he wrote on Thursday.

Koundé's defensive issues

Koundé met with head coach Xavi to tell him for the second time that he does not want to be a right-back at Barça. What Koundé did not clarify on social media is what the current status of his request is, as with the performances of Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen this season, the Frenchman would be a substitute if he only wants to play at centre-back.

For the moment, the former Sevilla player, who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, is trying to put an end to the controversy that he himself has generated. But his future will remain in doubt if he doesn’t agree to play as a full-back at Camp Nou.
