Barcelona interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan
Gundogan has six months remaining on his contract at City and the 32-year-old can talk to clubs about a possible move.
Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer this summer, report The Telegraph.
The Blaugrana, recently crowned Spanish Super Cup champions, are targeting midfielders with expiring contracts, with Chelsea player N’Golo Kanté among those names linked with a move to Camp Nou.
France international Kanté is now reportedly closer to signing a new deal with the Premier League side, which has shifted Barcelona’s focus towards Gundogan.
Time up at the Etihad?
The Germany international only has six months remaining on his contract at the Etihad and can talk to foreign clubs about coming to a pre-contract agreement.
In 15 Premier League games this season, Gundogan has scored two goals and provided two assists.
He joined City from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and has been a vital member of the squad over the past six years, helping Pep Guardiola’s side win several trophies.
Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has been linked with a possible move to Manchester, but Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been in the running to sign the highly sought-after England international.
With Sergio Busquets set to leave Barcelona this summer, the LaLiga club will be hoping to strengthen their midfield department as they look to add more trophies to their collection under Xavi.
