Barcelona locks in Jesse Bisiwu through 2031 as club bets big on its next breakout winger
The teenage winger has signed a five-year deal, until June 2031. Brugge will retain 20% of any future sale.
Barcelona has officially secured Belgian prospect Jesse Bisiwu, signing the 18‑year‑old winger to a five‑year deal at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The club announced the move this afternoon, confirming his contract runs through June 30, 2031.
Bisiwu will fly straight to Barça’s preseason camp at St. George’s Park alongside sporting director Deco. Because his flight departs Barcelona at 2:00 p.m. ET, he won’t be able to catch tonight’s friendly against Birmingham.
The deal with Brugge
Barcelona recently finalized the agreement with Club Brugge, paying roughly $9.3 million for the highly rated winger. Brugge will also retain 20% of any future sale, a sign of how much upside they believe he still has.
Barça’s plan for Bisiwu
The blueprint is clear: Bisiwu will start the season with Juliano Belletti’s reserve team, but he’ll train regularly with the first team and remain under the watchful eye of Hansi Flick. Deco is said to be extremely high on the Belgian’s potential, and inside the club, some even compare his profile and playing style to Ousmane Dembélé.
Barcelona sees Bisiwu as a long‑term project — one they believe could eventually explode into a first‑team contributor.
