Barcelona release new third kit for 2022-23 campaign

Barcelona reveal new third kit ahead of friendly with Manchester City.

Barcelona will wear their new third kit on Wednesday in the charity match against Manchester City at Camp Nou. The funds from the game will go to the fight against ALS.

Barça’s new shirt is a light grey with a red and blue cross that represents the award of the Creu de Sant Jordi to Barça 30 years ago.

This season, as well as the third kit, the Blaugrana will wear their traditional home colours and a gold away strip, the one they wore on Sunday at the Reale Arena against Real Sociedad.

The third kit is close to white but they decided against going for that particular colour. With the arrival of Joan Laporta to the presidency, some board members suggested that Barça could go back to white, the colour with which they played in until the end of the 70s and that Johan Cruyff himself wore.

Barça even won a Latin Cup in white against Nice in 1952. They also played in white in some of the finest stadiums, including the San Siro. However, the presence of white gradually disappeared at the end of the 70s in favour of yellow until it finally died out.

Many continue to ask for white at Barça but, for now, they will have to wait. The kit that debuts against Manchester City is practically the same as the one that Barça wore in the 1999-2000 season.
