Barcelona season ticket holders pass up on Montjuïc
Only 15,000 of the more than 80,000 season ticket holders have signed up to watch their team in exile. Barça reserved 27,000 seats for fans out of the 49,000 that the temporary venue boasts.
Tomorrow, Monday 26 June, the second window opens for Barcelona season ticket holders to acquire the season pass for the 2022-23 campaign, which will be played entirely in exile at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Montjuïc mountain. Club members who did not have season tickets at Camp Nou last season will be able access one for the temporary move across town. But up until tomorrow, it has been the fully signed-up club members registered for season tickets who had the privilege of reserving their place on a first-come, first serve basis. However, it seems Montjuïc doesn’t hold much of an attraction for many of them.
According to figures provided by the club, only 15,000 of the more than 80,000 season ticket holders have signed up to watch their team in Montjuïc. Barça had reserved 27,000 seats for its fans out of the 49,000 that the temporary venue will have. Premium season ticket holders have not reached that limit and there are now 12,000 free for members who are not season ticket holders at Camp Nou.
The work on the Montjuïc stadium continues at breakneck pace. Changing rooms, press areas, technology for VAR cameras are being conditioned and floodlighting is also being improved. Elsewhere, VIP boxes are being created for corporate companies and clients, from where Barcelona hope to receive a large chunk of revenue.
