Barcelona summer transfer window 2024: signings, departures, ins, outs…
Barça have enjoyed a good start to the season under Hansi Flick, despite problems registering main summer signing Dani Olmo.
Having gone into 2023/24 as the reigning LaLiga champions, Barcelona endured a turbulent season, which ended with Real Madrid winning the title by 10 points, Champions League humiliation, no trophies and club legend Xavi Hernández leaving his position as head coach.
In attempt to turn things around, big changes have been amid ongoing financial issues. Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is now in charge, with Dani Olmo the main summer signing from RB Leipzig.
Like last summer, Barcelona are in excess of LaLiga’s spending limit and were unable to register Olmo to play in the first two games of the season. Ilkay Gündogan, who only joined last summer from Manchester City, is one of a number of players who have been moved on in an effort to save space on the wage bill.
Despite a raft of departures, which also include Brazilian youngster Vitor Roque, former club captain Sergi Roberto and USMNT defender Sergiño Dest, Olmo’s (temporary) registration has only been made possible by a long-term injury suffered by defender Andreas Christensen.

Flick has overseen a fine start to the new season, which has included three straight 2-1 victories in LaLiga.
With the likes of Ronald Araújo, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi still to come back into the team after long-term injuries, there are signs of encouragement for the season, although the club’s perilous financial situation is still a cause for concern.
