Barcelona vs Sevilla: As it happened
Barcelona return to the top of LaLiga with a hard-fought victory over Sevilla on Friday.
The hosts came into the game off the back of an underwhelming 2-2 draw with Mallorca last weekend. They fashioned some decent early chances but the Sevilla backline marshalled Robert Lewandowski well and the veteran striker struggled to get into the game.
The game continued in a similar fashion in the second half, with Barcelona dominating the ball and Sevilla looking to hit them on the break. As the game reached the final 20 minutes Barcelona began to build momentum, but they could scarcely have imagined the source of their eventual breakthrough.
With just 15 minutes remaining Ferran Torres cut inside off the left flank and curled a deep cross to the back post. The impressive Lamine Yamal was there the nod the ball back across goal and into the unfortunate shins of Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos. The former Real Madrid man could only watch in horror as the ball rebounded back into his own net to give Barcelona the lead.
The visitors began to push in the final stages but there were no real clear-cut chances for a Sevilla side who are struggling to get going this season.
Lamine Yamal the difference-maker for Barcelona
Some will have been surprised to see Lamine Yamal start ahead of Ferran Torres against Sevilla but the 16-year-old winger justified his selection with a crucial part in the game-winning goal. It was Yamal's back post header that bounced off Sergio Ramos and into the Sevilla net, securing three points for Xavi Hernandez' men.
How many own goals has Sergio Ramos scored?
It was a night to forget for Sergio Ramos, who returned to face Barcelona for the first time since leaving Real Madrid in 2021. The veteran defender played well across the 90 minutes but unwittingly scored the crucial goal with15 minutes remaining.
That own goal was his third in the Spanish top flight, after also scoring in the wrong net twice for Real Madrid.
Barcelona beat Sevilla thanks to late Sergio Ramos own goal
The hosts had plenty of chances across the course of the 90 minutes in Barcelona but it was an own goal from Sergio Ramos that secured the three points for Xavi Hernandez' side. The former Real Madrid man was the unfortunate victim of a Lamine Yamal header that bounced off his shin from close range and rolled into the Sevilla net.

Substitution for Barcelona, young forward Yamal is replaced by the more defensive presence of Romeu.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (Barcelona)
Sevilla forward Mariano Diaz is a little late on the Barca keeper and Ter Stegen is now receiving treatment. He should be fine to continue.
Still around 15 minutes remaining for Sevilla to get back into this game. They proved themselves capable of dramatic comebacks last season, but this is a very tough ask now.
Ferran Torres's first real involvement finds the breakthrough. He cut inside from the left and crossed the ball to Yamal on the far side, the youngster's header bounced across the face of goal and was poked into his own net by Sergio Ramos.

Close! Barcelona
Neat play from Lamine Yamal who skips inside off the right flank and fires a shot at goal. He aims for the near post but his effort just skims the side netting.
Still goalless with 25 minutes to go.
The longer this game remains goalless, the more Sergio Ramos is thriving in the febrile atmosphere out there! The former Madrid man is marshalling his side's defence well and has kept Lewandowski remarkably quiet in the opening hour.

Who will find the breakthrough?
And we're back to it in Barcelona...
The hosts get things started in the second half!
Can Barcelona find a breakthrough?
There has been a lot of neat attacking play in the opening 45 minutes from Barcelona, but Xavi's side are lacking a bit of cutting edge to finish off those chances. Raphinha, Joao Felix and Fermin have all had clear sights at goal but have failed to find the breakthrough.
It might be a game for Robert Lewandowski to be the difference-maker, but the veteran striker has struggled to get into the game in the opening stages. Sevilla are blocking off the central areas and starving him of service.

The trio of Sevilla central midfielders is having to work very hard to prevent the ball being played in to the feet of Robert Lewandowski. If they can keep that up, Barca will need to look to the wings to find a breakthrough.
Gundogan plays the corner short to Raphinha, who looks to dink the ball over the Sevilla defence. The visitor get the ball clear and win a throw-in midway through their own half.
It's been a confident start for Barcelona. Sevilla are sticking to their compact 4-2-3-1 shape in the early stages, trying to prevent Xavi's team from playing through the middle of the pitch.
The only space for Barca so far has been down the wings, when their wide players are able to get at the Sevilla defence.
Barcelona win a corner...
In the early stages it looks like Raphinha is starting in central midfield for the hosts. He looks to be playing alongside Gavi, with Gundogan playing as the holding midfielder.

Barcelona youngster gets the nod against Sevilla
He may only be 16, but young Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has already proved himself capable of competing at the highest level. He has already made his international debut and notched his first international goal; now, he's looking to nail down a place in the Barca starting XI.
Tonight he starts ahead of Ferran Torres in the Barcelona frontline. Xavi will hope that Yamal's direct running can unsettle a well-organised Sevilla defence. Not long to go until kick-off now.
Sevilla players put through their paces
There's just ten minutes to go until kick-off now and players are going through their final preparations for this LaLiga clash. Barcelona have the edge in terms of quality, but Sevilla have a number of experienced veterans with the no-how to frustrate even the best teams.
The visitors overcame the odds to clinch the Europa League title last season and will be confident of pulling off an upset tonight.
Lewandowski returns to Barcelona starting XI
The Polish striker was a transformative addition for Barcelona last season, firing Xavi Hernandez' side to their first LaLiga title without Lionel Messi for nearly two decades. Lewandowski is 35 years old but remains one of the world's best finishers; he returns to the team after featuring from the bench against Mallorca last weekend.
Familiar faces return
An away fixture against Barcelona is one of the toughest fixtures on the planet, but Sevilla have two players in their squad who are intimately acquainted with the Catalan club. Ivan Rakitic won a historic treble while playing for Barcelona in 2015, starring alongside current Barca head coach Xavi Hernandez.
Sergio Ramos, meanwhile, knows what it's like to come up against Barca. He spent 16 years with bitter rivals Real Madrid and played dozens of El Clasico fixtures against Barcelona.
Both veteran players will be desperate to prove their enduring quality tonight.

Xavi Hernandez led his side to the LaLiga title last year thanks to their incredible defensive record. This season they have looked to play more on the front foot and Xavi has opted for a much more attacking set-up to take on Sevilla.
In addition to striker Robert Lewandowski, the trio of Lamine Yamal, Joao Felix and Raphinha are all in the Barca lineup. Yamal and Raphinha are expected to start on the wing, with Felix playing just behind Lewandowski. Will this gamble pay off for Barcelona, or do they risk being caught on the counter-attack?
And here's the Sevilla team...
Few surprised in the Sevilla team tonight, who will be hoping to build on the momentum from last weekend's 5-1 victory. Sergio Ramos faces old rivals Barcelona, while former Barca midfielder Ivan Rakitic returns to his former club.
