Bayern launch mega offer for De Ligt
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Bayern are willing to break the club transfer record for De Ligt, paying a fixed 75 million euros plus a bonus that could take the total fee to 90 million.
Bayern Munich are willing to break the club’s transfer record this summer and could do so signing a defender. The benchmark was set with the signing of Lucas Hernández from Atlético Madrid for 80 million euros ahead of the 2019/20 season, but a new record could be set with the arrival of Matthijs De Ligt.
The Dutch centre-back has become an unexpected protagonist in the current market with reports that he could be on his way out of Juventus. Juve signed him after being impressed with his performances captaining an Ajax side when he was not even 20 years old. But now, just when he should being ready to take the captain’s armband following Chiellini’s departure, he too is also aiming to leave.
Chelsea were the first club to show an interest. The Blues, in need of reinforcements in defence following the departures of Rüdiger and Christensen, set their sights on De Ligt but none of their offers came close to satisfying Juventus. On hearing the news that De Ligt was seeking the news, Bayern made their move.
Now, according to la Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bavarians are in pole position to sign the defender and plan to make a dizzying offer that the Italians won;t be able to refuse. They report that Bayern have already offered 75 million euros plus a bonus for the centre-back. They point out that these ‘extras’ would raise the transfer fee to 90 million euros - a new club transfer record.
In today’s edition, La Gazzetta adds that Juventus could sit on the offer until they have secured a replacement for De Ligt. Juve will explain the situation to the player and could offer him an opportunity to renew until 2024.
But if he ends up leaving, it will not be for lack of prominence at Juventus. De Ligt played 42 games last season, making him one of Allegri’s most-used members of the squad with 3,691 minutes out on the pitch.
A chance to improve at Bayern
According to the artificial intelligence developed by Olocip, Matthijs De Ligt would improve at Bayern Munich, but not significantly.
Due to the system change and how Bayern tend to dominate matches, De Ligt would maintain his defensive level although his involvement in attack would likely decrease. His involvement would increase, but mostly in areas such as creating moves.
