Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG: summary, score, goals, highlights Champions League

Bayern Munich - PSG: As it happened.

Kim Min-Jae goal gives Bayern Munich the win.

Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich haven't convinced in the Champions League this season but the German giants got the job done against Paris Saint-Germain, thanks to a first half goal from Kim Min-Jae

The Bavarians' task was made easier early in the second half when PSG forward Ousmane Dembele was sent off for a second bookable offence and they were able to cruise home with minimal fuss.

Fulltime: Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG.

The free kick comes to nothing and Bayern Munich see out the final seconds.

A big three points for Bayern and head coach Vincent Kompany!

Hakimi wins a free kick on the halfway line, one last chance for PSG to hurl the ball forward...

William Gittins
90+3

The corner kick is well defended by Bayern Munich and Safonov has to scurry back to his goal.

William Gittins
90+2

Nuno Mendes tries to swing in a cross from the left but it deflects off Konrad Laimer for a corner kick.

Is there one last chance for PSG? Safonov is up!

William Gittins
90+1

Manuel Neuer finds Thomas Muller with a pin-point pass forward but he's unable to hold the ball up for his team. Muller has looked a bit off the pace since his entrance.

William Gittins
90

We're going to have four minutes of injury time

William Gittins
89

Good defending from William Pacho to pinch the ball off Michael Olise and release the pressure on his side.

William Gittins
88

Teasing ball fired across the face of goal by Thomas Muller. Serge Gnabry is there to meet it at the back post but his shot strikes the side netting.

William Gittins
85

It's a good cross from Lee Kang-Lee, kept alive well by PSG. The ball eventually lands at the feet of Joao Neves but his shot flies well over the crossbar.

Time running out for PSG.

William Gittins
84

Serge Gnabry clips Hakimi as he charges down the right flank.

Free kick to PSG, good chance to deliver form the right...

William Gittins
83

PSG make another substitution. Marco Asensio comes on, replacing Fabian Ruiz.

William Gittins
82

Good pass from Olise to find Thomas Muller in space in the penalty box. The veteran German tries to curl one into the top corner but his effort drifts wide of the target.

William Gittins
79

Approaching the final ten minute, PSG are looking very blunt now. This has been a professional showing from Bayern since the red card, managing to stifle PSG.

William Gittins
77

Another Bayern change. Jamal Musiala is replaced by Thomas Muller.

William Gittins
75

Bayern Munich break with Davies, who curls in a cross towards Olise in the middle. He brings it down and tries to make space for a shot but he's crowded out by recovering PSG defenders and the chance evaporates.

William Gittins
74

On second viewing, it was an incredible save from Matvey Safonov to tip that Musiala shot onto the post.

The Russian stopper kept his side in the game there.

William Gittins
73

Musiala strikes the inside of the post!

Good play from Bayern and it all opens up for Jamal Musiala to strike from just inside the box. He beats Safonov but has to watch his effort cannon back off the inside of the post.

PSG survive!

William Gittins
73

Goncalo Ramos is a much more physical presence up front for PSG. Expect to see them looking a bit more direct now, trying to play into the big Portuguese striker.

William Gittins
73

And PSG make a switch. Bradley Barcola is replaced by Goncalo Ramos.

William Gittins
72

Double change for Bayern.

Michael Olise and Serge Gnbary come on. Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane are replaced.

William Gittins
71

Nuno Mendes

The PSG fullback is booked for a clumsy challenger on Laimer.

William Gittins
70

Lee King-In drops deep and tries to build the play for PSG. He's been lively since coming on.

William Gittins
69

As we approach the final 20 minutes of normal time the home crowd is in good voice. Bayern are playing the ball around with confidence now and look the more likely of the two teams to score.

William Gittins

Bayern's social media team pay tribute to the 'GOAT'.

We've seen plenty of Manuel Neuer tonight. A penalty box pirouette. A mad dash to the corner flag. And a darting run into midfield to spray a pass out to the left wing.

Vintage Neuer.

66

Sensational from Manuel Neuer to ping a ball out to Coman on the left flank. Bayern work the ball into the box and back out to Coman, who skies the ball from 12 yards out.

Big chance for Bayern

William Gittins
65

Kang-In is straight into the action, whipping in a teasing free kick from the left that bounces along the Bayern six-yard box and out of play on the far side.

Good delivery from the substitute.

William Gittins
64

It's Warren Zaire-Emery who comes off for PSG, replaced by Lee Kang-In

William Gittins
63

Bayern have retaken control of the game since the dismissal but PSG are still posing a threat.

Barcola is now functioning as a lone striker but Lee Kang-In is being readied on the PSG bench.

William Gittins
62

It appears that Ousmane Dembele was shown a second yellow card there, not a straight red. That makes more sense and explains why VAR did not intervene.

Brainless from Dembele to make that tackle when on a booking.

William Gittins
60

Well, that has certainly changed the complexion of the game on the hour-mark.

PSG had looked in control since the break but, now down to ten men, they face a real uphill task.

William Gittins

Dembele sent off for PSG.

Confirmation that the PSG forward is sent off. Real tough task for the visitors now.

Dembele launched into a slide tackle on Davies on the edge of the Bayern box. It was slightly mistimed but didn't appear to make any real connection with the Canadian.

It'll be interesting to see if VAR has a look at this...

William Gittins
56

Red card for Ousmane Dembele!

The Frenchman is sent off! Not entirely sure what for, there was a tackle but it would have been incredibly harsh.

William Gittins
55

Fairly quiet start to the second half with no real chances for either team.

PSG have managed to wrestle back control though, managing to push Bayern back.

William Gittins
53

Clever pass from Nuno Mendes nearly finds Hakimi racing into the box but Davies is back to cut it out.

William Gittins
52

Slow start to the second half in Munich. PSG have enjoyed more of the possession than they did before the break, Bayern seemingly willing to sit back.

William Gittins
51

Good defending from Zaire-Emery to hold off Musiala and spin away from the Bayern forward.

William Gittins
50

Bayern overhit a pass out to Laimer on the right, who had space to get forward.

The hosts haven't really got going in the second half.

William Gittins
49

Sharp counter-attack from PSG nearly catches Bayern out but Kim Min-Jae makes a good block from Nuno Mendes on the edge of the box.

William Gittins
47

Brilliant run from Laimer down the right flank but he just runs out of room.

William Gittins
46

No changes for either team at the break. Let's see if there's any stylistic change...

William Gittins
45

And we're back!

PSG get the second half underway at Allianz Arena.

William Gittins

Bayern Munich impress in first half showing.

We didn't know what to expect from Vincent Kompany ahead of his first season managing an elite team. His Bayern Munich side have impressed in the Bundesliga this year but have struggled a little in the Champions League, where they have come up against teams with similar budgets.

Todays visit of PSG was always going to offer a real test but Kompany's side have passed so far, generating chances and dominating the ball against a talented side. There have been chances on the break for the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Warren Zaire-Emery but it's been a confident performance from Bayern in the opening 45 minutes.

If they can maintain this level for the second half they could be rewarded with a statement result.

Fabian Ruiz is dispossessed on the edge of his own box and PSG pounce.

First Leroy Sane and then Joshua Kimmich try their luck from range but both shots are rebuffed.

William Gittins
45+1

Lofted ball from PSG finds Hakimi at the back post. He does well to keep the ball in play and work it back to Joao Neves, but his left-footed effort is comfortably saved by Neuer.

William Gittins
45

We're going to have three minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

William Gittins
44

PSG enjoying a decent spell of possession to end the first half. Can they muster one last chance before the break?

William Gittins
43

Nuno Mendes does brilliantly to skip away from Bayern defenders on the left, before eventually hitting traffic on the edge of the box.

He manages to turn back and retain possession.

William Gittins
40

Nearly another for Bayern! Coman races onto a long ball forward but his poked effort curls just over the crossbar.

The home crowd is in full voice now.

William Gittins

Kim Min-Jae puts Bayern into the lead.

The PSG players are arguing that there was a foul on Safonov, preventing the keeper from getting to the ball. Officials think otherwise, however, and Bayern are ahead.

GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL! Kim Min-Jae

The second corner kick is much better from Kimmich, causing chaos in the penalty box and the ball drops to Min-Jae to  nod home from close range.

William Gittins
37

The corner kick is taken by Kimmich but doesnt beat the first man.

Another corner for the hosts...

William Gittins

William Gittins

The Englishman goes down holding his ankle but he's quickly to his feet again.

William Gittins

Laimar is starting to get forward for Bayern on the right flank, pushing Nuno Mendes back.

William Gittins
24

Good spell of possession on the edge of the PSG box but an overly ambitious pass from Kimmich sees the move break down.

The visitors have been diligent in their defensive work so far.

William Gittins
22

It's been a fast-paced game so far, both teams trying to take advantage of every opportunity on the turnover.

William Gittins

Bayern push for an opener.

Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has supplanted Gianluigi Donnarumma in the PSG starting XI and he's been good value for his place so far. Two sharp stops to deny the hosts.

A promising Bayern counter-attack is halted after the ball strikes the referee on the way through to Jamal Musiala. The Bayern players aren't happy but there wasn't much that the official could do there.

William Gittins
19

Bayern Munich win a free kick, 40 yards from the PSG goal on the left.

Kimmich clips a ball to the back post but the assistant's flag is up. Musiala went too soon.

William Gittins
18

Sharp break from Bayern Munich is halted by a uncharacteristically poor touch from Harry Kane on the edge of the PSG box.

William Gittins
17

Kingsley Coman gets into a foot race with Achraf Hakimi on the wing. The PSG defender does well to shield the ball out and even wins a free kick for his team.

Top work from Hakimi.

William Gittins
15

PSG starting to grow in confidence now, enjoying a little more of the ball than they did in the opening ten minutes.

Bayern are finding space down the flanks but PSG's four-man midfield is making life difficult in central areas.

William Gittins
13

Out of possession, it looks like Ousmane Dembele is functioning as the central striker for PSG. His pace and direct running could cause problems for Bayern's high defensive line.

First foray forward from PSG finds Demebele racing in behind the Bayern backline. He has space for a shot but drags his effort wide of the target, via a slight deflection. PSG corner.

Safonov denies Musiala!

Slick play from Bayern to find Musiala in space in the box. He strikes it firmly with his right but the PSG goalkeeper makes a sharp save.

William Gittins

PSG are struggling to get a hold of the ball in the opening stages. Bayern are denying them the space to play out from the back.

William Gittins

Joshua Kimmich curls in a dangerous, dipping delivery and forces a slightly panicked punch away from Matvey Safonov.

The South Korean defender hasn't always impressed since his big-money move from Napoli but he's given the start tonight by Vincent Kompany. He's played in all 11 Bundesliga games for Bayern so far this season, a key part of a defence that has conceded just seven goals in that time.

Can PSG finally win Champions League without Kylian Mbappe?

For years, the spectre of Kylian Mbappe's long-rumoured move to Real Madrid hung over every summer transfer window. Finally, he's made the move to the Spanish capital but PSG have been able to rebuild with a more egalitarian style of play.

Speaking to reporters ahead of tonight's game, head coach Luis Enrique said: "The strength of our team is that we don't depend on just one player."

"So I'm expecting individual development from each of my players, as well as collective development. But so far, I'm satisfied with what I'm seeing. Tomorrow, we'll be brave once again, we'll take risks in defence and we'll attack. If Bayern are better than us, then we'll congratulate them and get back to work."
