Group F
This is Group F tonight after today's games:
1 | Belgium - 3 points
2 | Croatia - 1
3 | Morocco - 1
4 | Canada - 0
Proud Canada
John Herdman's side lacked some quality in the final third but they still have Croatia and Morocco to face and will take confidence from tonight's showing.
Belgium go top
Belgium are top of Group F. Roberto Martínez's side have a lot to improve on if they want to go far in this tournament.
FT: Belgium 1-0 Canada
Belgium win their first game but Canada will be hugely disappointed.
Batshuayi's goal is the difference between the sides. Canada will be immensely proud of their effort.
It could have been so different for Canada. They had their chances but it looks like Belgium will hold on.
Belgium just keep possession and the clock ticks down.
Canada have three minutes to find an equaliser...
There will be five minutes added on.
Miller sends it in but it goes over everyone and heads into touch. Canada's play in the final third lets them down again.
Canada have a corner!
With all these substitutions we can expect at least six or seven minutes of added time.
De Bruyne attacks the space and goes on a mazy run. He ends up lifting his shot over the bar. It hasn't been his best night.
Canada fly up the other end, where Larin heads over.
Belgium lead 1-0.
De Bruyne stands over the free-kick. Dendoncker heads it over.
Openda is hacked down by Johnston. Belgium have a free-kick. A couple of their physios have also come on to have a look at Openda. The 22-year-old was through but Johnston decided it was better to commit the foul.
Davies gets a yellow for a foul on Trossard. The Bayern player has been quieter in this second half.
40,432 is tonight's official attendance.
Belgium change
Openda replaces the goalscorer Batshuayi.
Belgium are preparing another change. It looks like Openda is going to come in. It's worth remembering that Lukaku is still out injured.
Canada play Croatia next. Belgium play Morocco.
In this morning's early game, Morocco and Croatia played out a goalless draw.
Canada make another change
Adekugbe replaces Laryea.
As Canada look for an equaliser, Belgium are finding more gaps in behind.
Belgium hit Canada on the break. De Bruyne moves into the inside left channel and clips a ball over the top for Batshuayi. It's just too high and the goalscorer can't take it down. Throw-in to Canada.
Belgium hold a narrow one-goal lead. Canada are still in this one but have lacked that bit of quality in the final third.
Canada spurn another chance.
Laryea hits it wide.
Belgium go down the other end. De Bruyne picks out Batshuayi but who is it? Laryea, after missing at the other end, comes all the way back to slide in and block the shot.
It could easily have been a brace for Batshuayi.
Super defending!
Belgium break...
It's 4 v 3 in Canada's favour.
Canada win it back.
Canada have shown a lack of quality with their last couple of efforts.
It rolls to Buchanan who smashes it way over the bar. He had time. Canada are still seeking their first ever World Cup goal.
Hazard's night is over
The in-form Trossard comes on for Belgium.
Hazard gives the captain's armband to Witsel.
Belgium lead 1-0.
It's a shocking free-kick from Eustaquio, who overhits it out for a goalkick.
Canada sub
Koné replaces captain Hutchinson.
Canada change
Hoilett goes off. Larin comes on.
Canada are about to make substitutions.
36 years later
It took them 36 years, better late than never though.
Canada have a corner and they shouldn't. It comes off Hoilett.
Dendoncker is furious.
Meunier gets a yellow for a challenge on Hoilett. And the stadium announcer gets in on the act by also calling the yellow.
Attempts at goal:
Belgium - 4
Canada - 16
Eustaquio is involved again. This time he shoots. The 25-yard effort flies wide.
Eustaquio finds David at the back post, but the Lille man heads wide. Glorious chance!
Martínez could be looking for more bite with those changes but Tielemans will not be happy.
Double change for Belgium
Meunier and Onana come in for Carrasco and Tielemans.
We're back underway for the second half!
Belgium lead at half-time
The Red Devils can consider themselves lucky.
HT: Belgium 1-0 Canada
Batshuayi's goal is the difference.
Canada have been the better side but are still looking for their first World Cup goal.
Belgium look so vulnerable.
Buchanan shoots over the bar after a fine low cross from Laryea.
It's terrible defending by Canada. Batshuayi smashes it home on the half-volley after letting a long ball from Alderweireld over the top bounce.
Canada will be absolutely furious, having been on top.
GOAL!
Batshuayi opens the scoring!
Belgium take the lead!
Belgium have failed to get a grip on this as we approach the break. Canada will be pleased with their display and should really be ahead.
Martínez could be forced into some half-time changes.
Referee Janny Sikazwe isn't going to look at it so there's no penalty. Would Davies have taken it again after missing the first one?
Could Canada have a second penalty?
Laryea goes over in the box.
VAR are having a look!
Hazard has only played six times in all competitions for Real Madrid this season but he always starts for Belgium, regardless of his poor club form.
Hazard, 31, comes deep, and lifts his head as he spots the run of Castagne on the right. He overhits it. Castagne can't keep it in and it's out for a goalkick.
Canada should be ahead!
Hoilett picks David out at the back stick but the Lille striker can't hit the target and it flies over.
David panics and shoots inside the box but Laryea is in acres of space on the right. It's the wrong decision.
Johnston goes on a long run down the right. Canada find a way through again and Courtois pushes Johnston's strike away. He hits it well but it's straight at the Real Madrid netminder.
Courtois saves penalty
We've seen Ochoa and Courtois saves penalties in the space of 24 hours.
Witsel is trying to get Eustaquio booked for a challenge on the Atlético Madrid destroyer but the referee says no.
Davies, 22, tracks Castagne's run and heads it out. Solid defending from the Bayern man, who is covering the whole left flank. He is brilliant in and out of possession. Quick feet, can read the game. He has it all.
John Herdman is the first coach to have managed a women's and men's team at a World Cup. He was once told at Sunderland that because he never played at the highest level, the highest age category he would coach would be the U9s. And here he is on the biggest stage of them all.
Tielemans picks out Batshuayi, who shoots over the bar from 10 yards. Miller does really well to get a touch on the shot.
If you're just joining us, Courtois saved an early Davies penalty.
Belgium have grown into the game. Martínez has a word with Witsel.
From Regina to Vancouver, they will be glued to this one, but there have been no goals so far. 0-0
Their World Cup is here
De Bruyne drives through the middle. He fails to pick out Tielemans, who is all alone on the right and goes for Carrasco instead. Very unlike KDB.
Hoilett gets away from the Belgium defence but can't steer his effort on target. His low left-footed drive rolls wide of Courtois' right-hand post.
John Herdman, Canada's manager, is English, in case you didn't know. He managed the Canadian women's team before taking the men's gig. Herdman is from Durham and is still only 47.
Lukaku is in the stands and he looks quite frustrated with his side's start. He has his head between his legs. He could be back for Belgium's third group game.
The ball falls to David in the box but Belgium manage to block the effort.
Davies had a chance to score Canada's first ever World Cup goal but Courtois had other ideas.
Davies misses the penalty. It's a poor one too. Courtois guesses right and that's why he's the best goalkeeper in the world. 0-0
COURTOIS SAVES!
Carrasco gets booked for handball. Canada have a big opportunity to take the lead.
And it's a PENALTY to CANADA!
This could be huge for Canada!
It looks like it comes off Carrasco's hand!
There is a penalty check!
Hoilett, of Reading, curls it in. Buchanan gets a shot away in the box but Courtois catches it with ease.
Canada have a corner!
Roberto Martínez has had to listen to a lot of criticism as Belgium manager. He'll be hoping to keep those critics quiet with an early win. His side is aging but there is a lot of talent still available.
Canada have never scored in a World Cup, maybe tonight is the night.
The ground looks about 75% full.
Davies, Canada's key man, floats one over the top and it's eventually headed away by Alderweireld.
It's a sloppy start from Canada. Batshuayi gets a shot away and it's saved by Borjan.
And we're underway!
Canada are playing from right to left.
Belgium are set to line up in a 3-4-3.
Mexico '86 was Canada's last World Cup. They enjoyed that anthem.
Canada will wear white tonight as they are the away team.
Here's their national anthem.
As the camera goes by, you realise how much talent is in this Belgium side.
It's time for the Belgium national anthem.
It's the final game of the day!
And what a day it has been. Spain beat Costa Rica 7-0 and Japan surprised many by beating Germany.
The players are in the tunnel!
Prediction: Belgium 2-1 Canada

They've waited a long, long time for this. Just the 36 years!
Kickoff is just minutes away!
