Bellingham injury causing concern
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has a knee problem that makes him a serious doubt for the end to the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund is anxiously hoping to avoid losing their star player as they enter the crucial final stretch in the Bundesliga title race. Jude Bellingham, the midfield maestro and top scorer for the Yellow and Blacks this season, is facing concern over a knee injury, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming match against Augsburg this Sunday, according to German newspaper Bild.
Bellingham watch
The injury issues arose from a blow the English international received during Dortmund’s last game against Borussia Mönchengladbach (5-2) last weekend. Bellingham, who is being strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, was unable to participate in Tuesday’s training session, and as per Bild, he was absent from the training ground on Thursday as well. Bellingham has entrusted his recovery to Borussia’s medical staff, who will make every effort to expedite his return.
With only two matches remaining in the German league, Dortmund remains in contention with Bayern Munich for their first league title since 2012. Edin Terzic’s team currently occupies second position in the standings, trailing Bayern by a single point. The Bavarian juggernaut, who will face Leipzig on Saturday, can secure the title for the eleventh consecutive year if they win and Dortmund lose.
