Benzema injury update: Real Madrid striker out of Cádiz LaLiga clash
Karim Benzema was once again absent from training, and won’t be fit to face Cádiz at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday.
Real Madrid will be without Karim Benzema until after the World Cup, after the France striker once again sat out training on Wednesday - the club’s final session before Thursday’s LaLiga clash with Cádiz.
Benzema out as Madrid bid to stay in touch with Barça
Benzema has been ruled out of the matchday-14 game at the Bernabéu, which is Madrid’s last fixture before Qatar 2022 gets underway on 20 November.
It will be the fifth Madrid match that the 34-year-old has missed since the club issued a medical report last month revealing that he was suffering from “muscular fatigue”.
Los Blancos must win to remain within two points of LaLiga leaders Barcelona, after the Catalans beat Osasuna on Tuesday.
Benzema “didn’t feel good” - Ancelotti
Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti had hinted after Monday’s defeat to Rayo Vallecano that Benzema would be able to play against Cádiz, but told reporters on Wednesday: “He has trained alone and he hasn’t stopped, but he didn’t feel good.”
The Spanish and European champions will also have to do without defender Antonio Rüdiger, who was sidelined at Vallecas with a hip issue.
