Bielsa considering Luis Suárez for the Copa América

The Copa América is beginning to take shape. While Brazil is expected to announce their squad for the competition on Friday, in Uruguay, Marcelo Bielsa is busy drawing up his squad for the tournament. According to DSports Uruguay, the coach has included Luis Suárez in his provisional list for the competition which will take place in the United States from 20 June to 14 July.

Who is on Bielsa’s preliminary list for the Copa América?

“Bielsa called up 35 players. With a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 55, he opted for the minimum. Luis Suárez is included,” journalist Rodrigo Romano revealed. The Inter Miami striker was excluded by Bielsa in his last list for friendly games against the Basque Country and the Ivory Coast in March. Suárez’s last call-up with the two-time world champions was at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, more than a year ago. Since then, he hasn’t featured under interim coach Marcelo Broli or current coach Marcelo Bielsa, who took office last summer.

Suárez’s inclusion comes at a time of crisis and revolution in Uruguay.
