Who is in the top 10 of the FIFA world rankings?
Brazil won their two warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup against Ghana and Tunisia.
Brazil, the favourites to win the 2022 World Cup, have retained their spot as the top-seeded team in the world. The latest FIFA world rankings were released on Thursday and Tite’s side topped the rankings with 1841.3 points.
Brazil have won 24 of their past 30 fixtures and scored three or more in 13 of those. Only Argentina have beaten them in that run and the Seleção won their two warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup against Ghana and Tunisia.
Belgium are ranked No 2 in the world, while reigning Copa America champions Argentina are in third. Current world champions France remain in fourth place.
England fifth in world rankings
England, who have struggled to find form going into the World Cup, are ranked fifth in the world.
European champions Italy are not going to the World Cup but currently sit in sixth place. Roberto Mancini’s side have made it to the UEFA Nations League finals next June.
Luis Enrique’s Spain are also in the Final Four of the Nations League but have fallen one place to No 7. The Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark complete the top 10.
A total of 53 UEFA Nations League matches and 119 friendlies took place during the last international window.
Canada jump two places
Canada are up two places to No 41, however, the FIFA World Rankings have Mexico (13th), the United States (16th) and Costa Rica (31st) all ahead of them.
When does the 2022 World Cup begin?
The 2022 World Cup begins on November 20 and finishes on December 18. Twenty of the 32 nations competing in Qatar this winter have improved their ranking since Russia 2018.
