América was the most prominent team at the Apertura 2022, adding several consecutive victories and finishing as the overall leader of the competition. The team was not, however, able to lift the title, as they were eliminated in the semifinals by the Red Devils of Toluca. One of the reinforcements for that tournament was the Uruguayan Brian Rodríguez, who came from Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

During his early games, the South American earned a place in the starting eleven but little by little his levels of performance began to decline. Now, the Uruguayan considers himself ready to be able to return to the first team, and he has made it clear that he will commit to giving better results in the next campaign.

“We are calm, working day by day, whatever God wants,” said Rodríguez. “I came to give my best for América and I am going to give it to them. I’m at the biggest team in Mexico.” On the other hand, Rodríguez admitted that he already knew about Liga MX and the difficulty levels.

“I knew the Liga MX and that playing here was already a challenge for me in América and we couldn’t define anything. To the fans who continue to support, who continue to trust us, last year we had great expectations and leave empty-handed because in reality we didn’t achieve anything, we ask you to continue supporting and believing that this group has much to give.

Currently, the Águilas are carrying out their pre-season preparations ahead of the Clausura 2023, where they will seek to get star number 14. The team will have a reasonable start in the tournament that gets underway in January, as they will face the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro at the Azteca Stadium.
