Manchester United’s poor start to the season has set off alarms at Old Trafford. Club representatives have travelled to Madrid to discuss a deal for midfielder Casemiro. Real Madrid are already looking for a possible replacement for the club legend, and top of the list is Bruno Guimarães. The Brazilian is one of the stars of the Premier League and has dual Spanish nationality.

The five-year contract for Casemiro at United would offer more than the Brazilian’s current salary with Los Blancos. United have marked Saturday in red as the key day to make the move and an offer is expected shortly. Bruno Guimarães leads the list of possible substitutes for Casemiro. At just 24 years old, he is a very interesting prospect.

The operation would not be straightforward since Bruno is a fixture in Eddie Howe’s team and the fans adore him at St James’ Park. As AS has been able to confirm, sources close to Newcastle affirm that the club would ask for a figure over double what was paid to Lyon. Newcastle, led by Mehrdad Ghodoussi, paid the Ligue 1 outfit a figure close to 52 million euros to get the services of the former Athletico Paranaense man.

Since Guimarães landed at St James’ Park seven months ago as the icing on the cake of the new multimillion-dollar Premier League project, the native of Rio de Janeiro has managed to impress. Since his debut in England, he has emerged as the player with the most duels won, the most tackles made and the most fouls won. He is a fixture in Tite’s Brazil squads, where he has been slowly making his way into the starting eleven. He was also one of the most outstanding players for Brazil in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where he demonstrated his quality in the final against Spain.

The ideal candidate for Olocip

Olocip’s Artificial Intelligence places Bruno Guimarães as the ideal replacement for Casemiro at Real Madrid. The Newcastle midfielder would grow exponentially under Carlo Ancelotti, like his compatriot did back in 2015.

Casemiro beats Bruno in recoveries (0.02 vs. 0.01), interceptions (0.04 vs. 0.02) and aerial defensive duels (0.002 vs. nothing). However, Bruno commits fewer fouls in running duels (-0.014 vs. -0.0016) and successful defensive duels (0.03 vs. 0.02). Guimarães still has a lot to prove. At 24 years old, he is already considered one of the best players of his generation, but he still has room to grow.
