Carlos Salcido suffers defeat in coaching debut
Pro Camp, the team owned by the former national team star, lost on its debut in the Third Division
Carlos Salcido got his coaching career off with a defeat for his team, the Pro Camp, at the start of the 2022-2023 TDP League (Third Division) season. The Chivas legend decided to become DT of his own team for this season after finishing his studies at ENDIT at the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).
Pro Camp, who play at the Municipal Stadium in Ocotlán, where Salcido was born, lost 2-1 to Caja Oblatos on their TDP league debut, the opening game in group 14.
With Salcido on the bench, Pro Camp found themselves trailing in the 18th minute, when Oblatos scored after being set up by Kevin Monroy. In the second half, on 66 minutes, the visitors extended their lead through Kevin Gutiérrez. Salcido’s team had to wait until the 82nd minute to find a reply, Diego López’s masterful free-kick making it 2-1.
Pro Camp are next in action on Saturday, when they visit Catedrático Elite FC at the Unidad Deportiva Etzatlán.
