More than 9,000 kilometers from the Santiago Bernabéu, and with an eight-hour time difference, the Real Madrid supporters club from Los Angeles enjoyed the victory over Liverpool with a rather important guest. Iker Casillas witnessed the Champions League second leg with the supporters of the Los Angeles Madrid supporters club at the Sunset Boulevard venue where they met to see Carlo Ancelotti’s team progress to the quarter-finals

Casillas cheers on Madrid from LA

The former Madrid and Spain keeper posed with a banner that he dedicated to the supporters of one of the 17 groups that Los Blancos have in the U.S. and that has accompanied the team on recent tours along the west coast. The presence of Casillas kicked off what the Los Angeles supporters club itself defines as a “big week” that will culminates on Sunday with the Clásico against Barcelona, which they will be able to follow at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. ET).

A legend for a legendary day. Madrid played its 300th game in the Champions League since the top continental competition was renamed. And Benzema equaled Sergio Ramos as the player with the third most caps (129) in the Champions League. The Frenchman, author of the goal against Liverpool, is one game away from reaching Raúl’s 130 in a ranking that, with 150 games, is headed star guest in Los Angeles Iker Casillas.
