During an interview with ESPN, the defender revealed that he had dedicated more than half of his life to the club, emphasizing the sacrifices, joys, and sorrows he had experienced while wearing the blue colors. With tears in his eyes, he expressed his gratitude to God for granting him the strength to represent Cruz Azul for such a significant period.

“I devoted over half my life to this club, and I truly gave everything. Throughout the years, I poured my heart into it. My love for the club is indescribable. I thank God for enabling me to defend this club for so long,” Domínguez commented.

The player disclosed that he had previously engaged in discussions with the team’s board regarding a possible contract renewal. However, on the day the team traveled for preseason, he was informed that he would not be continuing with the institution.

“We had already talked weeks before about a possible renewal for another year with a salary option, and I was even on the travel list for preseason. This is how the life of a footballer goes, and I have always known how to navigate through different situations.

“I believe I handled it well. I understand the decisions made by the board and coaching staff, but I did feel a void considering all the years I have spent here,” he said.
