At the end of the final night of Champions League group stage action for 2022-23, we now know the identity of all 16 teams who have progressed to the knockout stages of the competition.

Let’s take a look at Wednesday’s results in Groups E, F, G and H and what they mean for the final group standings. Who’s through? Who’ll drop into the Europa League? Who’s out of Europe altogether?

Group E

Milan 4-0 Salzburg

Chelsea 2-1 Dinamo Zagreb

Chelsea had already qualified as group winners before Wednesday but all the other places were up for grabs. Milan’s comfortable home win over Salzburg was enough to see them over the line in second spot and, with Dinamo Zagreb losing in London, the Austrians qualify for the Europa League despite the defeat.

Group winners – Chelsea

Qualified – Milan

Europa League – Salzburg

Out – Dinamo Zagreb

Group F

Real Madrid 5-1 Celtic

Shakhtar Donetsk 0-4 RB Leipzig

Real Madrid were already through before Wednesday’s thrashing of Celtic, which ensures they top the group.

Shakhtar had to defeat RB Leipzig to join Los Blancos in the last 16 but the Germans ran out comfortable winners in Warsaw and consign the Ukrainians to Europa League football in the new year.

Group winners – Real Madrid

Qualified – RB Leipzig

Europa League – Shakhtar Donetsk

Out – Celtic

Group G

FC Copenhagen 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Manchester City 3-1 Sevilla

Wednesday’s results had absolutely no impact on the final group table, with everything already decided after matchday five.

Group winners – Manchester City

Qualified – Borussia Dortmund

Europa League – Sevilla

Out – FC Copenhagen

Group H

Juventus 1-2 PSG

Maccabi Haifa 1-6 Benfica

The performance of the night goes to Benfica, who take top spot thanks to an injury-time strike from João Mario. Incredibly, that goal moved the Portuguese ahead of PSG on the SEVENTH tie-breaker, goals scored in the group from away home. The French outfit would surely have thought a win in Turin was enough...

Juventus cling onto a Europa League spot despite just one victory in six group games.

Qualified – PSG

Europa League – Juventus

Out – Maccabi Haifa
